Somaliland president names a committee for talks with Somalia

A press release issued by the presidential palace of Somaliland on Sunday said that president Silanyo has named a committee consisting of 5 ministers for  talks between Somaliland and Somalia on the future relations of the two countries.
The first meeting of the two committees representing Somaliland and Somalia  will take place in London on a date that has yet to be decided. The decision of designating the Somaliland committee for the job of discussing future relations with Somalia comes as a result of an agreement reached during the  recent conference on Somalia that took place in London on Feb 23, 2012 .

Item 6 of the communiqué issued after London Somalia conference clearly states that “The Conference recognised the need for the international community to support any dialogue that Somaliland and the TFG or its replacement may agree to establish in order to clarify their future relations.”

Somaliland president said in the press release that he has taken the decision to assign this committee to carry out talks with Somalia to fulfil the commitment of having a dialogue with Somalia that has been reached during the London conference on Somalia.
The names of the ministers designated by Somaliland president for the task of carrying out any dialogue between Somalia TFG and Somaliland are as follows :
1. Mahamed Abdullaahi Omer – Foreign affairs
2. Mohamed Nur Aralle Duur – Minister of Interior
3. Ahmed Abdi Haabsade – Minister of public works
4. Hussein Ahmed Aydid – Minister of justice
5. Farah Elmi Mohamud (Geedoole) – Minister of agriculture
