The incident took place at around 5;45pm London time on the 15th of August 2102 and an air ambulance rushed to the scene . The group reportedly had feud and had a rendezvous at the scene to settle scores .
The news came to the Somali community through gossip but the local newspapers broke the actual events of the crime in the following report published by Surrey Comet :
“An air ambulance is treating patients after at least three men were stabbed during a fight on the Knollmead estate tonight.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said officers were called to a fight on the Knollmead Estate at about 5.45pm.
He said: "We found two males suffering relatively minor stab injuries, certainly not life-threatening. Both were taken to hospital for treatment."A short while later officers have stopped a vehicle in Amberwood Rise in New Malden. A male occupant of the vehicle was found suffering a stab wound.
"He has also been taken to hospital for treatment, again not believed to be life-threatening."
Five men have been arrested so far in connection with the fight and are in custody.
A resident, who asked not to be named, said: “Last night me and my wife came out about 9pm and there were two guys trying to get into one of the houses over the road.
"We tried to calm it down and eventually they ran off but they must have been there for a good 10 minutes.
"Next thing I know, when I came back from work today, my wife tells me someone has been stabbed.”
Another neighbour said: “I heard somebody had run down and got caught in the alleyway near the park by a couple of guys. I heard one of them was stabbed in the heart and I saw him being airlifted.”
A third neighbour said: “I’ve lived here for 27 years. It used to be rough but I thought it had got much better. All the trouble normally happens at Malden Manor but here was OK I thought but it seems not.”
The incident was originally reported to be in the Surbiton area by police and air ambulance.
A spokesman for London Air Ambulance said a crew had been called to a multiple stabbing at about 6pm.
An air ambulance landed in the grounds of Richard Challoner school near the Hogsmill open space between Malden Manor and the Sunray Estate, according to an eye-witness.”
Kingston is a relatively peaceful area with low crime compared to the other boroughs in greater London . This incident is one of the rarest that has happened since I settled in the borough in 2006 . The majority of the Somali community of less than 300 individuals of all ages in the borough are law abiding citizens with few crimes arising that are due to deprivation and lack of social activities for the youth who happen to have under achieved at school and found themselves in the streets.
