Background :
Landlocked Ethiopia which is desperate to have access into the sea after losing Assab port of Eritrea in the 1998 Eritrea - Ethiopia war , for the first time touched Somali waters in Dec. 2006 when it invaded Somalia after defeating the Islamic Courts Union (ICU). This has been a historic victory for the government of Meles Zenawi of Ethiopia. Meles himself was a refugee in Somalia in the late 1980s and has used Somali Passport during the rule of the late dictator M. Siyad Barre . Ironically Meles paid back to the Somalis by invading their country when he found it weak.
Ethiopia also annexed the Haud and Reserved Area of Somalia in 1954 after signing the annex with the British colonial powers. Kenya in turn took the Northern Frontier District (NFD) . Northern Frontier District (NFD) used to be a part of British East Africa. However, after the dissolution of the former British colonies in East Africa, Britain granted administration of the region to Kenya despite the overwhelming desire of the region's population to join the newly-formed Somali Republic, and the fact that NFD was and still is almost exclusively inhabited by ethnic Somalis.
Djibouti also takes its share of the partition capturing the North Western oilfields of Somaliland. Oyster Oil which is exploring oil in Djibouti is confident, based on its work to date, that a number of potential oil bearing basins were formed with the break-up of Gondwanaland and that these may prove to be commercially attractive targets for exploration and future production in Djibouti. The main basins that have been identified are the Guban Basin and the Red Sea Basin.
Meanwhile the Somalis , particularly those in the South are haggling and fighting each other over who will be president by name and run the capital on behalf of Uganda.

ReplyDeletejust wait and see.
DeleteGod helps those who help themselves. This is the result of corruption , greediness and lack of nationalism on part of the Somalis . The same leaders who corrupted the democratic process are about to be put back into the leadership roles again .
ReplyDeleteWith the exception of Somaliland and Puntland somalis have shown that they are incapable of rulling themselves and so the world community have decided to put them under the mandate of the united nations but the so called leaders of the south have not realized this and are still squabling on who is going to pretend to lead the country.
ReplyDeleteI will leave this to the young . This is your future and you need to work on this with unity and without regionalism aggravated by tribalism . It is about time that the young take over and decide on their future . All of those that are of Somali decent and speak in Somali need to be saved before they become extinct .....
ReplyDelete@Mohammed Ali,are you saying that somaliland should rejoin somali? somaliland made that mistake once and will never repeat that mistake again besides why woud somaliland want to be ruled from kampala for that is where somalia is ruled from.however much the corrupt so called somali leaders might pretend to rules themselves but in reality they could not decide on anything without the approval of museveni.
DeleteI am not advocating for the re-union with Somali . I am warning about a disaster in the making for the Somali speaking people in the Horn of Africa...
Deletethe only problem for somaliland is the lack of regocnition and that will come as long as the leaders keep seeking.as to somalia, the problems they face is self inflicted, you cannot sell your people and country constantly without having to pay a heavy price and the poor people of somalia have been paying that price while their ignorant and corrupt so called leaders keep stealing the little there is.
Deletewaxaan filayaa ninka qoray waxani riyo ayuu ka sheekeynayaa lama joogo waqtigii gumaysiga ee dhako kale keen
ReplyDeleteAgain I should say to those who seem to have difficulty in getting it that "this is a scenario/situation that is about to unfold in the Horn of Africa".
ReplyDeleteSomaliland waa wadan iskii u taagan waxana ku nool dad somaliyeed.
ReplyDeleteSomaliland ma jirto somaalinimo ka maqan oo ay raadinaysaa, markaa uma baahna in ay somaalikale la middawdo si ay somaali u nooqoto,

DeleteI am a Somalilander and I wrote this article . This does not mean that I hate Somalia or Somaliland . This is in anticipation of things to come if we don't put our houses into order .
" Nimaan wax jooga garan wax soo socda ma garto " ayay Somalidu ku maah maahdaa ....
