(Medeshi) -This is a boarding school in the Somaliland town of Sheikh. This is the best school in the region and one of the best in the world. I studied at this school from 1971 until 1975 . At this time most of the British teachers had left because of the Socialist government lead by the late dictator , Siyad Barre .
RR Darling who was the last of the co-founders of the school was expelled from Somaliland by the Siyad Barre regime in early1971 . Fortunately , Mr. Wood , an English lecturer and the only Briton left in the school continued teaching English and History until I left the school .
I have been very much reminded by the school after I was invited to attend a meeting for the re-union of the old Shiekh students that will take place on Sunday the 23rd of September 2012 at Ealing Broadway , West London . This will give a chance for all the students that went through the SOS school to meet each other and also to discuss ways of supporting the school and the future generations . I will keep you posted of the photos and the outcome of the meeting - if any- , so look forward to it ....
