Bahrain : 'Somali Ebola meat' claim denied

(Gulf Daily ) MEAT imported from Somalia is not contaminated with Ebola virus, contrary to what has been posted on social media, an official said yesterday.

Imported meat is inspected to ensure it is not infected, acting director of Food Control Mojtaba Abdulmohsen said.

He asserted that all imported meat products are subjected to lab tests and any consignment incompatible with safety standards is rejected. He underscored Bahrain's commitment to banning meat and livestock imports from Ebola-affected countries, including Nigeria, Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.
