Security in Somalia got better in 2014

(Medeshi)- Nicholas Kay, the UN Special Representative for Somalia, extending his New Year well-wishes to the people of Somalia, noted on January 1st  that 2014 in the country has been a year of “real progress.Security has got much better…now Al-Shabaab is losing control across the country.”

Speaking from Borawe, a port city which was controlled by Al-Shabab until two months ago, the UN Special Representative for Somalia also expressed his expectations and hope that 2015 will be a year of real delivery for the people and a year of federalism as Somalia becomes a united, strong federal state with a new constitution. The UN Special Representative concluded his well-wishes by saying that “I am optimistic about 2015.”
