A simple poem - The trek from the homeland

(Medeshi)- This is about a boy leaving nomadic life in early childhood and coming to a town and joining school and then never going back to the countryside. When he grows up , he finds out that simple life in the countryside  was better than  life in the metropolitan cities. It is all about homesickness and a yearning to go back to the simple pastoralist life in Somaliland.

I yearn for the homeland that I had left decades ago.
I left it unknowingly enticed by urbanisation .
I remember that day when I trailed the merchants to the town.
I hid and sought not to be detected.
I joined the folks out of exhaustion .

I yearn for the homeland that I had left decades ago.
I can see the mistake but can't retrieve it.
I can see that I had strayed into another land and can't step back.
I can see that it should not have been this way.
I suffer in the cold and in a weather that I cannot adapt.
I feel far and far beyond the horizon.

I yearn for the homeland that I had left decades ago.
I feel Raad Shabeel  is so close .
I feel Jiidali could be crossed in moments.
I feel Durdur  has still salty waters.
I feel that Hundhur Beed still holds water round the year.

I yearn for the homeland that I had left decades ago .
This has been a long trek from home to England.
This trip seems to be irreversible .
This trip has been a painful trek.

I yearn for the homeland that I had left decades ago.
I wish Great God could reverse time.
I feel nostalgic for the Kingdom of Medeshi ..
