Somaliland President Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo told a press briefing at the Egal International Airport at Hargeisa after returning from a two day working visit to Addis Ababa that his meeting with Prime Minister Hailemariam on Monday (June 22) had “concluded with unanimous concurrence on imperatives of enhanced cooperation”.
The President said the meeting with the Prime Minister was “concluded with a commitment to not only sustain but enhance security, trade and cross border movements." President Silanyo was accompanied by First Lady Amina Mohamed and the Ministers of Foreign affairs, the Interior and the Presidency.
An Ethiopian delegation to Somaliland , led by the Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Sufian Ahmed, recently participated in discussions on the status of existing trade, investment and infrastructure cooperation and ways of further consolidating these.
The delegation also visited Berbera port, the roads linking Berbers to Hargeisa and the port’s fuel storage facilities. A Memorandum of Understanding on the Enhancement of Economic Interdependence was signed and a Joint Ministerial Committee set up to manage its implementation.
