Toronto - Leader in Somali community accused of sex assault on child

Investigators are concerned there may be more victims.



Toronto Star - TORONTO - A 34-year-old man police call a leader in Regent Park’s Somali community is charged with sexually assaulting a child.

Toronto Police say the man was arrested Aug. 29 in relation to an alleged incident at the home of a 9-year-old.

The man ran numerous youth organizations within the community and has been in contact with children through those activities in the past, police say.

Investigators are concerned there may be more victims.

Mohamed Abdullahi is charged with sexual assault and sexual interference. He is expected to appear in Old City Hall court Oct. 1.
