Calls for the UN to discuss UAE destabilization of Somalia

Geneva - The Independent Commission for Monitoring the United Nations calls on the Security Council to convene and discuss the destabilization of the United Arab Emirates for the stability of Somalia

The UN Independent Monitoring Body on Wednesday called on the UN Security Council to hold an emergency session to discuss the United Arab Emirates intervention in Somalia and its efforts to undermine the relative stability and tampering with democracy in the country.

It said in a statement that it had continued with a number of permanent members of the Security Council and called on them to intervene to put an end to the subversive role of the UAE in Somalia, including the payment of financial bribes and sabotage of the political map.
The agency, which has worked with ambassadors of a number of permanent members of the UN Security Council, said that the United Arab Emirates is openly interfering in the internal affairs of Somalia and is paying bribes to some politicians and MPs in the country for inciting against the central government in a blatant violation of the sovereignty of states.
She pointed out that what the UAE is doing is a violation of the Charter of the United Nations and international peace and security and threatens the instability of a regional state that has long suffered from wars for decades.
The Independent Commission warned that the UAE plans to lead a coup inside Somalia to extend its control over the Horn of Africa, which will be disastrous for the East African region, especially that Abu Dhabi accused of funding extremist armed groups affiliated to the Somali youth movement, which requires international intervention.
A recent report by the United Nations on the financing of the United Arab Emirates for "terrorism" in Somalia has been accused of supporting Somalia's terrorist youth movement, which has sparked international and regional controversy for a clear violation of UN resolutions banning the supply of arms and money to any party in Somalia.
The UN report said that the UAE is violating the resolutions on international sanctions on Somalia and expressed concern about the threat to peace and security in Somalia due to these acts and the return of the emergence of networks of piracy.
