London : Care proceedings as father reported abusive causing mother to flee Somaliland

(Medeshi)-Tower Hamlets , East London - By Samantha Bangham - Care proceedings were initiated in relation to the two children, now aged 4 and 2 after the death of their younger sister when she was 4 months old. When paramedics tried to revive her it was noted that she was extremely thin, malnourished and profoundly dehydrated. Her weight was similar to her initial birth weight.

I cannot go to reflect on our loss without addressing the pain and the sorrow of my beloved father, after all it is that which triggered me to write this memoir.To him Mohammed was everything, not only a son but a friend, a colleague and above all a manager of his affairs. 

EU to train another 1,200 Somali soldiers in 2015

The European Union Training Mission in Somalia (EUTM Somalia) has said it aims to train another 1,200 soldiers for the Somali National Army in 2015. This would approximately match the number of soldiers it has trained this year.

UK- Somali Bristol sex gangs jailed for grooming girls

 BBC - Thirteen men have been convicted of a string of child sex crimes in Bristol involving the abuse, rape and prostitution of teenage girls.
Bristol Crown Court heard one victim, aged 16, was assaulted by five Somali men after she was moved to the city while in the care of another authority.

Thousands warned to leave Kenya’s north

 NAIROBI: Thousands of Kenyan civil servants were urged yesterday to leave troubled regions hit by a wave of insurgent attacks, as protesters in the capital demanded greater security. The warnings by six unions to members to leave the restive northeast, as well as the protests in Nairobi, follow a weekend attack which saw 28 non-Muslims executed on a bus.

Nestor Maritime trains Somaliland Coast Guard officers

  (Defence Web ) The European Union maritime capacity building mission EUCAP Nestor has completed a two month long training course for Somaliland Coast Guard personnel.

The two month Mentoring, Teaching and Training programme for thirty young officers of the Somaliland Coast Guard in Berbera from Hargeisa, Berbera and Zeyla, Mait and Las Qoray, concluded with a ceremony on October 21, EUCAP Nestor said.

Somalia : Nestor Maritime deploys in Mogadishu

 (Defence Web) - From November 24, capacity building mission EUCAP Nestor maritime, legal and police experts are permanently deployed in Mogadishu, Somalia, in the second mission field office in the country.

The Mission operational base is located in Mogadishu International Airport (MIA). Other EUCAP Nestor experts are already fully operational in Hargeisa, Somaliland.

MISSING: Ayan Omar, 14, from Southall, West London

 A schoolgirl from Southall has been missing since Wednesday November 19.
Ayan Omar is 14 years old and was last seen at 7am on Wednesday near Feltham Community College.
She is Somalian, of very slight build, and often wears a headscarf.
She is known to frequent the Convent Way area of Southall and sometimes uses the name Yasmin Mohamed.
